How to Get Rid of Lice - The Answer to a Mother’s Woe

Horrors of all horrors! Imagine lovingly looking at your child and just as when you’d dotingly brush your hair through his or her hair, you suddenly see something peeping and struggling through the hairs. Worst comes to worst when you realize that despite hygienic measures and despite hair grooming, you see your child’s infested with lice and nits and what not.

Fortunately, the gargantuan task that lies ahead, although seemingly impossible is still reality. Getting rid of lice may be difficult but arming one’s self with several measures and strategies to get rid of the pestering insects is more than a weapon in itself. 

Manual Extermination

This is simply the removal of lice treatment using one’s bare hands. It should be understood that for the younger children under two, the use of drugs and other powerful agents to kill the lice may be too much because the scalp may dangerously absorb the drug and then stream into the system. 

While using bare hands is a good idea as one is able to control the pressure tugged right in the child’s head, using a fine-toothed comb may also do the trick. Use the comb after shampooing and conditioning. The purpose of taking a bath is to somehow immobilize the lice and to facilitate the combing making it a lot easier to spot and eventually kill the lice. 

Do not forget to have all sections covered. You can effectively do this by parting the hair in sections so that you may note which regions have not been checked. Have a towel or a paper that would catch the lice while you slowly and repeatedly comb through the hair. This procedure may take some time and will definitely need several sessions but it will surely bring lasting results.

As for how to get rid of lice eggs, one may also need to choose the manual extermination approach. Understandably, this is very difficult as tugging on one’s hair is automatically painful especially if that involves removing the nits and eggs that have stubbornly attached themselves in the hair strands.

Wait for at least eight hours before rounding up another session and do not forget to carefully inspect the head after each session. Religiously continue with the procedure until all lice treatment are exterminated. Always bear in mind that a louse has a seven to ten day-life cycle.
